Ohio EPA Schedules Public Hearing for Clermont County
Loveland-Miamiville Proposed Wastewater Treatment Plant
Ohio EPA will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2003, to accept comments on an application from the Clermont County Board of Commissioners for a new wastewater collection and treatment system on Ward's Corner Road (Miami Township). The hearing will take place at the Clermont County Board of Commissioners, 101 East Main St., Batavia.
If the discharge permit application for the new wastewater treatment plant is approved, treated wastewater from the facility would be discharged into an unnamed tributary of the Little Miami River and subsequently to the Little Miami River. A separate permit-to-install would be needed from Ohio EPA to build this proposed treatment plant.
If approved, the wastewater plant would treat 2 million gallons per day of sanitary wastewater. The proposed discharge would be monitored and regulated through a permit to ensure that the treatment process is meeting water quality criteria designed to protect human health and the environment. The wastewater discharge proposed would not exceed chemical-specific water quality standards that protect aquatic life and human health. The additional discharge could, however, result in a change from the current water quality conditions of the unnamed tributary and subsequently the Little Miami River. Therefore, Ohio EPA is required to consider technical, economic, social and environmental aspects of the proposed project.
Ohio EPA will accept written comments through the close of business August 21, 2003. Anyone may submit written comments on the permit application or request to be placed on a mailing list for information by writing to: Ohio EPA, Division of Surface Water, Attn: Permits Processing Unit, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, Ohio 43216-1049.
The permit application and other materials are available for review at Ohio EPA's Southwest District Office, 401 East Fifth Street, Dayton, by first calling (937) 285-6357 for an appointment.
