By Gina DiMario Staff Reporter gdimario@communitypress.com The application by the Clermont County Water and Sewer District for a new wastewater treatment plant in the Loveland/Miamiville area was returned by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for missing information. The letter from the OEPA, received Nov. 25 by Tom Yeager, director of Clermont County Utilities, said the application was returned because "they don't know the point of discharge," said Mary Walker, county commissioner. Yeager said the point of discharge was identified in the application. It was the site itself that was not identified. "Our relationship with the OEPA is that, as we do studies, we share information (with the agency) as it's developed," he said. Yeager said the location site had been identified in prior communications with the agency. "The OEPA did not fully link the prior submittals to the final application," he said. Marie Brown, president of the Miamiville Civic Association, said the news is "fantastic." "We're just looking for anything we can to buy a little time to offer more options to the commissioners," Brown said. Brown said the fight to oppose the wastewater plant in Miami Township is gaining momentum. "We have received quite a bit of money," Brown said. "A lot more people, from a much wider area (than Miami Township) are interested in stopping this thing. People in the newer neighborhoods think of the village of Miamiville as a gateway to their communities. They look at it as a recreational area." Yeager said the OPEA's request for more information will be answered. Walker said the county will refile. "It is our intent to pull together the requested information and return it to the OEPA as soon as possible," Yeager said. Published Dec. 3, 2003
