Attached is our response to the misinformation that is being put forth by Clermont County Commissioners through Scott Proud. I would like to add that the information that Miamiville Civic Association is stating can be verified on public websites, our engineer's report, and in both Clermont County engineering studies. We will welcome any public debate on the issues and are prepared to back up our statements in court. For example, looking at the auditor's website shows the layout of existing homes in the area where the treatment plant is being proposed. The BBS engineering report is also on the Clermont County website. The photo and map of the proposed location for Wards Corner shows that that plant will indeed back directly up to existing homes. The decent thing to do would be for the county to buy out all surrounding property owners if the plant goes there; so the owners get current fair market value instead of a fraction of what their house is currently worth. No one will after all, want to stay there. Further, the commissioners state that installation of a treatment plant will decrease the chance for overflow of raw sewage into the river during times of heavy flooding and rain. This is actually not the case. I talked to the City of Mason Public utilities Project Coordinator Arthur Oliver and their Utility Superintendent R. Ernest Stickler last year at a public hearing for their new treatment plant. They stated that even the newest plants with the best design will flood untreated sewage during times of heavy surface water overflow or flooding. The City of Mason by the way purchased 100 acres on which to put their new plant. That plant will add a third level of treatment, which is not being planned by Clermont County. That third treatment phase will result in a much higher water quality being discharged than will the new Clermont County facility. We know this thing is coming. And we just want people to know the truth. Marie A. What parade are they talking about? I participated in the Clermont County Fair parade and it wasn't like that at all. Bob Proud is obviously feeling threatened and retaliated by making Miamiville Civic look bad. I plan to write a letter to that editor, as well as contacting the reporter. Is anyone else planning to write? I have several ideas about that and would love to know who else is writing. That guy with the toilet seat was with us the whole time, so I'm not sure when they got that photo. Kaelin (my 9 year old daughter) said he did walk over to the Proud car before the parade started. As far I could tell, we had 2 McCormick elementary 9 year olds handing out candy, Sue Hardin and an older gentleman handing out info, a few middle aged women and a few middle aged men walking with signs, an older couple riding in the back seat of the Hardin's truck with Mark Hardin driving, a very pregnant me sitting in the back of the truck next to the Bickle children, and Mrs. Bickle (what is her name) also following along. Then there was that guy with the toilet seat with us but he wasn't making a scene. This is ridiculous! Karin Weyer P.S. The loud motorcycle/Chequers situation is getting some support from the Trustees. I haven't asked for help from the Civic Association because people are so focused on the sewer situation. I would, however, love to get others to voice their complaints to the Trustees, as the police make it sound like we are the only ones complaining. We also took our house back off the market because it's just too much with having a baby. P.P.S. Sorry for such a long email. "MCA Officer, Steven and Marie Brown" wrote: Hello Everyone. A few items to note. First, there will be articles in today`s Clermont Sun and Community Press about the sewer plant issue. I believe they will be showing citizens of Miamiville in less than a positive light. We are now being painted as the bad guys who would slander the commissioners, and who want to put the plant on Boy Scout property. Cincinnati Enquirer will probably run an article and a letter to the editor tomorrow. Watch for the articles. Second, we will have a general membership meeting on August 18 at 7:00 pm at Miami Boat Club. We will review the BBS recommendation, including the grades and weightings. We may want to hire our own consultants to do a water quality study on the Miamiville Creek, to determine the impact that discharging treated sewage would have on the water. Please plan to attend the me eting, and ask your neighbors to do so as well. We will make up a flier and will send it via e-mail. Please print off a few copies to hand out to neighbors. Thank you.
